I will not claim to have always been the biggest fan of Bad Bunny, but there was something about the Super Bowl halftime show that made me so glad for his success, voice and platform.

For 15 minutes, we weren’t immigrants, a voting segment, or an emerging market to be commercialized (ironic given the amount of advertising at the Super Bowl). We just saw ourselves, the stories our uncles would tell of working in the fields somewhere in El Salvador all the way to how we’ve found ourselves in a new home away from those fields and only each other to help keep that heritage alive.

As I try to build a life in a new country, it was beautiful to see that someone from Latin America can also audaciously claim to belong in these United States of America.
